About

Who I Am

My name is Chase Kinghorn, and labels have never been my thing. Saying things like “artist” or “business owner” puts us in a bit too tight of a box, and it just can’t capture who we are as a whole. If I had to put it in one sentence I would say I’m primarily a lifelong learner, someone pursuing excellence in art, psychology, health, and my own self.

I love what I do, and I truly believe in it because not only do I have my own coach, but for every client I speak with, we find a way to change their life for the better, no matter what their challenge or goal is. It’s such a fulfilling feeling that I started off doing this for free just to hone in my skills and learn.

Despite my nerdy interest in systems thinking and organizational psychology, I’ve been a tattoo artist in my free time for many years, and when I can, I love making leather goods like bags and notebooks. I’m also an avid thrill-seeker, I love rock climbing, scuba diving, skydiving, cliff jumping, really anything that gets your heart pumping.

Mutare Mores Systems

Progress is the priority.

This business was created for the purpose of helping creatives and leaders utilize behavioral psychology and systems thinking to make their work more efficient, effective, and creative.

In a world where people hate consultants for not providing lasting change, while also hating coaches for not helping create answers, I strive to use the best of both worlds. I want to provide meaningful, personal, lasting change to you or your team, while still giving you my knowledge to help you create answers. It’s coaching and consulting rolled into one.

Your goal or challenge is what determines how much consulting vs coaching is needed. If the problem is internal (your habits and thought patterns), we’ll go a bit more into coaching.

If the problem is more structural or involves multiple people, we might need a bit more from the consulting side like assessments, analyses, and testing.

I’ve had people book a call for one issue to then go and sign the contract for a whole separate issue they didn’t know they even had. Conversations are powerful, you just have to ask the right questions.

Background

  • The interesting part of my background starts when I moved to Bogota, Colombia, for 3 years in high school. I learned Spanish, met tons of cool people, and had some even cooler experiences.
  • From there, I came to Florida International University, where I got my bachelor’s in industrial-organizational psychology (after switching from being an advertising major). I then went straight into my master’s to get a graduate degree in the same subject.
  • During my first year of college, I also joined the Army National Guard, where I had originally planned to be an officer, but instead went on a year-long deployment to the Middle East. Super fun times.
  • During the last semester of my masters, I got an internship (and later, job) at a local credit union, where I was able to build my skills in coaching, training, and organizational development all on my own, learning a lot in the process.
  • In my last year of the National Guard, after over a year of consistent physical (and mental) training, I went to Special Forces Assessment and Selection, where I got to finally pursue what had been my dream for the previous 6 years. Long story short, I got injured in the final days and was unable to continue, but I’m very grateful because it has sent me down this path instead.
  • I then went on to create Mutare Mores, my way to put a positive influence in the world and use my skills, knowledge, and experience to help leaders and creatives around the world become better at what they do.
  • Ever since, I’ve been continuously working to improve the business and my own skills, always looking to create a bigger impact.

Work with me

What I Do

I work in creative environments to assess and develop systems, whether it be for an individual leader, a team, or an entire organization.

I do this using research, tools, and techniques from behavioral science, organizational psychology, systems thinking, coaching, and consulting (many of which can be found on this website).

The Discovery Call

This is a short (and free!) interview to simply understand what it is you’re interested in working on, whether it be a challenge you’re stuck on, an ambitious goal you want to reach faster, or developing a system to maximize productivity for you or your team.

Then we’ll go into what we can do to make the change happen, if there’s any deadlines or restrictions, and what the next steps will be.

Things We Can Work On

Your Team

Communication channels

For those in formal organizations, with different teams of people, the way you communicate does not stop with what you are saying or writing. It involves aspects like timing, method/platform used, speed, clarity, and so much more. When you feel like your messages aren’t being seen or understood, or the outcome doesn’t match what you said, you probably need to restructure how you communicate.

Conflict management

Humans come in all shapes and sizes, just like they come with all types of personalities and moods. When these clash, and feelings get hurt, miscommunications happen, or things just don’t go smoothly, as a leader you need to be able to handle these things appropriately and effectively. When the (inevitable) chaos happens, you are the one people will blame when things don’t go according to plan.

Collaboration

In creative environments, collaboration is vital for every aspect of the creative process. When collaboration is forced or unnatural, the results reflect that. If you can create a system within your team that not only encourages collaboration, but it simply comes naturally, you’ll notice projects running smoother and turning out better.

Team cohesion

Similar to collaboration, there are the teams that get along well, and the teams who work together like world champions in a final match. Everybody feeds off of the emotions and energy of those around them, and when a team is cohesive, they not only work better together, but they feel better, are more motivated, and actually produce better outcomes.

Creativity

Brainstorming is an essential phase of the creative process, and when your team wants to stand out from the rest, they need unique ideas (again, what are we if we can’t be more creative than AI?). The way your meetings are structured, the environment people are in, how brainstorming sessions are planned, these are some elements that most people don’t even think about when leaders ask “Any ideas?”.

Productivity

Good ideas and working well together are great, but if you can’t deliver projects on time, or you’re falling behind on what you know you need to be doing to grow, your productivity might be holding you back. I can work with your team to eliminate bottlenecks in your processes, produce more, finish faster, all with less effort.

Task/time management

Sometimes you don’t need to be more productive, you just need to manage your team’s time better. If people are constantly disorganized and your projects run off schedule, it might just be a time management issue. Working on individual systems and the team’s system for managing how tasks are organized and completed can save you hours of your time.

Role clarity

In smaller teams, wearing multiple hats isn’t just a reality, it should be expected. The problem is when people don’t fully understand their role, they can become confused, annoyed (“That’s not my job”), and projects slow down. When the roles are clarified, people start to work more efficiently and with more focus and less confusion.

You

Creativity

In the age of AI, what are we if we can’t be creative? For those who want their ideas to stand out from the rest, or feel like they’re in a creative slump, there are a variety of habits, tools, techniques, and ways of thinking that will greatly improve your creative ideas and skills.

Leadership skills

It’s not the equipment, the idea, or even the talent of the team that makes a project turn out great, it’s the leader that brings these elements together to create it. If you cannot lead people well, you will not only struggle to get the outcome you want, but you also hurt your chances of getting more of the projects and people you want to be working with. Developing your leadership style, knowing when and how to manage difficulties with your team, improving your personality, communication, and approaches, these are some of the things that will get you to a whole new level.

Communicating your vision

This is one of the most important things leaders need to do for projects to turn out right. If you’re struggling to get people to understand, or you feel like the work doesn’t match what you visioned.

Personalized system design

You are the product of your system. If you can control the inputs, you can control the outputs. Most creatives don’t think about how they design their lives, habits, and environments, and that’s why so many fall into the trap of mediocrity. Once you build a system around your goals, you will achieve them with much less effort, in much less time.

Task/time management

Juggling a variety of tasks is typical for just about every creative profession. You aren’t just one thing, you help with a little bit of everything, so to avoid burnout and stress, learning to manage your tasks is essential, not optional.

Productivity systems

Creatives tend to have periods of high and low productivity. If you can create a system for consistent output, you are going to not only create more chances at success, but you will progress much faster, and with much less stress.

This is just a sample of the things that I’ve seen with creative leaders and teams; you may have a specific problem that you just can’t seem to fix, or a goal that you want to achieve but don’t know how to get there or need someone there to help accelerate your progress. Whatever it may be, scheduling a discovery call is the best way to find out if this is right for you, and what we can do to accomplish it.

What It’s Like To Work With Me

Types of work

During the discovery call, depending on the goal you are looking to accomplish, we will determine what needs to be done, and when.

  • Project-dependent — this is for more consultative goals, where there’s a specific problem that requires analysis, testing, implementation, etc. Usually this is for companies or larger teams.
  • Coaching
    • 3 months — Focus: best for short term goals and specific challenges. Think of this like a training program for something you want to change or prepare for.
    • 6 months — Growth: good for big goals and challenges that will take a few tries to really get to the outcome desired. This could be building a system, making your work better, or improving an aspect of your leadership.
    • 12 months — Transformation: best for long-term goals where you want a deep change, think of the kind of leader you want to be, and now imagine actually being that in a year from now. This is good for accomplishing multiple goals and making progress in different areas of your work or life.
Pricing

I know, I know, you were hoping to see a nice list of prices like a store, sorry to disappoint.

I don’t have set prices because every situation and project is different, depending on various factors. For example:

  • How much time you are willing to invest
  • How often you want to meet
  • Some people just need coaching, others need assessments or even a structured analysis
  • If it’s just you, a team, or a company-wide change
  • How much the change is worth to you and/or your company
What I expect from you
  • Determination — If you’re reading this, that means you have a big change you’re wanting to make, which is awesome! Many people, however, have big aspirations, but little follow-through. Any meaningful change is going to take some determination to push through the times where progress slows and the effort becomes hard or annoying.
  • Reliability — There will be times where you might get “homework” from me, and if I can’t rely on you to do the work needed to make a change, then your investment will not be worth it.
  • Communication — I can’t change what I don’t know, and I can’t know if you don’t tell me. So I just ask that you be open and honest with your thoughts, feelings, and what you’re facing so we can start making an impactful change.
  • Accountability — We all make mistakes, own it! That’s the only way we’re going to be able to learn and grow. If you aren’t able to take accountability for your actions (or lack thereof), it’s going to make your goals much harder to reach.
  • Openness — Growth requires change, and only you are able to let change happen. If you are closed off to new perspectives, thoughts, opinions, and experiences, there will be no room for change.
What you can expect from me
  • Support — Some people just need some support, a cheerleader, a motivator. I strive to be one of your biggest believers. One thing’s for certain, I only work with those that I truly see can achieve the goals and overcome the challenges they bring.
  • Honesty — There may be things that you might not necessarily want to hear, and I don’t do rude or overly-blunt, but I will point something out if I see it blocking the path between you and your goals.
  • Challenge — I am a believer that anything worth doing is going to be hard. Just like any world-class athlete, if you never get pushed to be better, how will you ever know your true potential?
  • Patience — During our conversations, the time is there for you. I am in no rush for you to give me an answer, in fact, it usually takes a few tries to get to the real answer. To get the most clarity of thought and best of ideas, patience is key.
  • Commitment — I’m not here to collect donations, if I just wanted money then I would stay at a 9-5 for the rest of my life. I do this because I want to create an impact in the lives of others, so I am committed to seeing you achieve what you set out to do.

What I collect — When you book a discovery call or coaching session, I collect the information you provide in the booking form: your name, email, phone number, and your answers to the intake questions (things like what you’re looking to work on). If you book by video, my scheduling tool also records the meeting time and any calendar details needed to avoid double-booking.

How I use it — This information is used to schedule and prepare for our calls, send you confirmation and reminder emails/texts, and keep a record of our work together so I can serve you well over time. I don’t use it for anything else, and I don’t sell it.

Who sees it — I use a small set of trusted tools to run this business: Cal.com (scheduling), Google Calendar and iCloud Calendar (calendar sync), Notion (client records), and an automation tool (Make.com) that moves your booking details from Cal.com into Notion. These services process your information on my behalf to make the above possible — none of them are permitted to use it for their own purposes, and I don’t share it with anyone else unless required by law.

Text messages — If you provide a phone number, you may receive appointment reminder texts (24 hours and 1 hour before a scheduled call). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of texts, or let me know directly and I’ll turn them off for you.

How long I keep it — I keep client records for as long as we’re working together and for a reasonable period after, in case you return. You can ask me to update or delete your information at any time.

Your choices — You can ask me what information I have about you, correct it, or have it deleted, by reaching out directly at info@mutaremores.com.

Cookies — This website does not currently use tracking or advertising cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated to reflect it.
